Strawberry Custard Tartlet & Mini Verrine

Every time I see Fresh Strawberry-it's one of my favorite fruits, I must end up buying them! Last few days I was shopping grocery stuffs and my eyes immediately stopped at the berries section..Yes, it's STRAWBERRY from Korea. The staff was taking out from the carton and putting them on the shelf, how could I not buying them :) After I paid at the cashier I started thinking of what to do with this strawberry besides of simply eating them and I did not want to put them as the ingredient but I wanted to show how nice the strawberry so I decided to make Strawberry Tartlet. I thought it's good idea to decorate my tarts with nice fresh strawberry, in the same time I could use my new tart moulds which I bought quite sometimes already but no chance to use.

First thing, I started to make the filling & I chose to use custard cream or sometimes it's called pastry cream. Making filling done in the morning and evening time I did the crust by using the crushed digestive biscuits mixed with melted butter. Besides 2 tarts I made mini VERRINES (A verrine is a confection, originally from France, made by layering ingredients in a small glass. It can be either sweet or savoury, making a dessert or snack) by putting in the square cups with layer by layer of biscuit crust, custard and diced fresh strawberry topping. It's a good presentation and easier to eat. You don't have to worry so much about over eating something sweet. If you are afraid of eating too much sweet things or concern about your weight, I think making food in a miniature size is a great idea!
